TL;DR: The 2023 Portland Open, played at the Glendoveer Golf Club, will be held June 1st through the 4th. The two courses (east and west) are designed to be long and demanding both of players for power and accuracy. Simon Lizotte will look to defend his 2022 Portland Open title against a strong field.

2023 Portland Open Overview
The 2023 Portland Open sponsored by Latitude 64 will be held on June 1st through June 4th. The annual tournament is played at the Glendoveer Golf Course on the eastside of Portland, Oregon. The 2023 Portland Open is an Elite + event, which is one tier higher in importance (points and cash wise) above Silver Series events. This is the final stop for players on the west coast swing.
2022 Portland Open Recap

The 2022 Portland Open was a high scoring, neck and neck battle between two seasoned pro tour veterans: Garrett Gurthie and Simon Lizotte. The two backhand dominant distance giants battled on the course for what seemed every hole of the tournament. Simon, fresh off a win at the OTB Open the previous event, was playing his smartest and best disc golf yet.
Both Lizotte and Gurthie shot 1045 rated rounds or higher for the entirety of the event, with Lizotte’s first day 1071 being the highest between the two. The finale of the 2022 Portland Open eventually came down to the final hole, with Lizotte playing aggressive for solid positioning and Gurthie doing the same but ending up pinched off from the green. Garrett ended up playing an uncharacteristic forehand which ended up out of bounds, leaving Lizotte with an open, pressure free putter approach to the green for the win.
2023 Portland Open Course Preview

The disc golf course on the Glendoveer Golf Club is a temporary course set up for the Portland Open every year. Both the MPO and FPO will be playing on the two courses set up on the property: Glendoveer West and Glendoveer East. The MPO layout on the Glendoveer East course features over 11,245 ft of course to cover on the par 66 and the West layout is a 10,610 foot par 63. Both courses are demanding, mixed with wide open drives, OB lined fairways and tightly knit wood shots to guarded greens. Players such as Eagle McMahon, Ricky Wysocki and Simon Lizotte, and many others who can mix maximum distance shots with expert lines will have no problem finding low scores at the Glendoveer Golf Club disc golf courses.
2023 Portland Open Player Spotlight
Mentioned above, the Glendoveer Golf Club disc golf courses are specifically designed to challenge maximum distance power and players shot shaping abilities. Those players who can find a perfect balance of both power and accuracy will be awarded with low scores throughout the long weekend of play.
Simon Lizotte: Last year’s winner, Simon Lizotte has in many fans eyes, the perfect game for the Glendoveer East and West disc golf courses. The now MVP sponsored player has a penchant for finding crazy “Simon” lines and spectacular disc golf. Last year he won the tournament in epic fashion, continuing his streak of excellent play in 2022. While his showing at this years OTB Open was poor – Lizotte didn’t even cash – he’ll look to bounce back and defend his Portland Open title.
Ricky Wysocki: If 2023 has taught us anything, it’s that through thick and thin, Ricky Wysocki is one of the most consistent players on tour no matter what. Plagued by the side effects of an ongoing battle with Lymes Disease, Ricky has had to slow down and focus on recovering more than playing in 2023. But, in his first event back, at the Cascade Challenge in Washington State, Ricky took down the tournament and won by 3 strokes. Much like Lizotte, the 2023 Portland Open is a perfect match for Wysocki’s game and there is no doubt that he’ll be atop the leaderboard all weekend.
Eagle McMahon: McMahon gets on our list of players to watch for the 2023 Portland Open due to his multiple tour wins and the amount of close podium finishes he’s already had in 2023. Winning the Challenge at Goat Hill and the Beaver State Fling, and placing second at both the Champions Cup and Jonesboro, Eagle much like Ricky Wysocki, has battled past injuries to make it once again back to peak form.
Drew Gibson: Drew Gibson has had a quiet season of disc golf in 2023 to say the least. The Infinite Discs sponsored pros best Elite Series finish this year was a solid 4th at the Las Vegas Challenge, a tournament he won in 2022. The reason we’ve added Gibson to this list is that much like all the other players featured, Gibson has the ability to throw far and control understandable discs when touch is needed.
Honorable Mention Spotlight for the 2023 Portland Open
Cole Redalen – Having an absolute heater of a year in 2023, Cole Redalen can throw far and has a strong mental game.
Garrett Gurthie – Finishing in a heartbreaking 2nd place finish in 2022, Gurthie can throw far and throw accurately.
Calvin Heimburg – Calvin could be on every list we publish. He throws far and isn’t threatened by anyone or any course.
Bradley Williams – Bradley has all of the skills needed to win big tournaments. He throws relatively far, has a quietly good mental game and is one of the best finesse disc golfers on tour.
